The presentation will explore emerging opportunities across industry sectors and how TVA partners support Valley communities.\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker:\n\nHeidi Smith serves as Vice President of Economic Development for the\nTennessee Valley Authority (TVA)\, where she leads initiatives aimed at\n\nfostering job creation and attracting investment across the seven-state\n\nTVA service region. Smith leads global business and economic\n\nincentives programs and specialists\, furthering TVA's mission of service\n\nthrough economic growth.\n\n \n\nSince joining TVA in 2002\, Smith has been instrumental in the\n\ndevelopment and implementation of strategic recruitment\, community\n\ndevelopment programs\, in-depth site development initiatives\, and\n\ncustomized workforce development strategies. Her efforts focus on\n\npreparing communities to be in a more marketable position for\n\neconomic growth opportunities. Programs and initiatives developed\n\nunder Smith's leadership include InvestPrep\, InvestReady\, Workforce\n\nInvest\, Rural Leadership Institute\, and Workforce Institute.\n\n \n\nSmith works closely with state\, regional\, and local economic\n\ndevelopment and local power company partners in the areas of\n\nbusiness recruitment\, project management\, and community\n\ndevelopment. Smith is also a certified facilitator for Facilitative Selling\n\nand Proposing to Win training.\n\n \n\nBefore joining TVA\, Smith worked for Forcum Lannom Construction\n\nCompany as vice president of business development and marketing.\n\n \n\nSmith earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and communications\n\nfrom the University of Arkansas\, is a recipient of the Tennessee\n\nEconomic Development Council Fred H. Harris Professional of the Year\n\nAward and is listed in Southern Business and Development's Southern\n\nEconomic Development Hall of Fame. She enjoys spending time with\n\nfamily and resides in Nashville.
