DESCRIPTION:Author\, apologist\, professor\, and philosopher Peter Kreeft will present the talk The Relationship of Christian Faith and Academic Freedom as speaker for the 2008 Lyles Lecture at Lambuth University on March 28. The lecture will be in the R. E. Womack Memorial Chapel at 7 p.m. There will be a reception and book signing in the lobby of Varnell~Jones Hall following the lecture. The event is free of charge and the public is encouraged to participate.  Peter Kreeft\, Ph.D.\, describes himself as “a Catholic apologist who is in love with C.S. Lewis and Socrates.” Kreeft received his Ph.D. from Fordham University and joined the faculty of Boston College in 1965\, where he currently teaches Thinking About Religion\, Philosophy in Literature\, C. S. Lewis\, and Philosophy in Literature.  His major fields of interest include Philosophy of Religion\, Ethics\, C.S. Lewis\, and Philosophy in Literature.  Dr. Kreeft has been one of the most prolific and beloved Catholic writers of the last two decades\, and is in wide demand as an author and as a speaker at conferences. Notable titles of his poplar works include Fundamentals of the Faith\, C.S. Lewis for the Third Millennium\, and A Refutation of Moral Relativism (all published by Ignatius)\, and How To Win the Culture War (InterVarsity Press). He has also co-authored the Handbook of Catholic Apologetics (InterVarsity Press) with Fr. Ronald K. Tacelli\, a colleague at Boston College. Dr. Kreeft is quoted widely on C. S. Lewis and on J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings\, and was featured recently on a PBS program\, “The Question of God\,” contrasting the worldviews of Lewis and Sigmund Freud. He is also producing a philosophy series for Ignatius Press that takes a Socratic approach to the Great Books\, maintains a web page showcasing his writings and lectures\, and is finishing a novel.
